Butterflies Cannot See Their Own Wings

Butterflies are beautiful creatures that remind us of change and growth. They start as caterpillars and transform into something amazing. But did you know that butterflies cannot see their own wings? Even though their wings are colourful and admired by everyone who sees them, butterflies do not know how beautiful they are.

This is a bit like some people who cannot see how special and beautiful they are. In my work as an image consultant, I meet many people who feel this way. They do not always see how much they have grown and how unique they are, just like butterflies who cannot see their own wings.

Looking Beyond the Mirror

Sometimes, people find it hard to see more than just their reflection in the mirror. They might notice only the things they wish were different or compare themselves to others. This can make it hard to see the wonderful things about themselves that others notice.

With my background in psychology, I know that it is common to have doubts about oneself. People can forget about their strengths and what makes them special. Like butterflies, they might not see how amazing their own journey and changes are.

Embracing Your Growth

Just like a butterfly, you can embrace your growth and recognise how far you have come. Here are some ways to start seeing your own beauty and progress:

  1. Think About Your Journey: Take a moment to think about where you began and how much you have achieved. Remember the challenges you have faced and the growth you have experienced. Motherhood, for example, changes us in many ways. Our bodies change, and our priorities shift as we care for our children. These changes can make us stronger and show us new sides of ourselves. Every step forward shows how strong you are.
  2. Celebrate What Makes You Unique: Love the things that make you different. Your individuality is something special and wonderful. There is no one else exactly like you, and that is something to be proud of.
  3. Be Kind to Yourself: Treat yourself with kindness. Everyone has things they wish were different, but these do not define who you are. Be as gentle with yourself as you would be with a friend.
  4. Ask for Another Opinion: Sometimes, you need someone else to help you see clearly. Surround yourself with friends and family who support and encourage you. They can help you see the beauty and growth that you might miss.

The Power of Style

In my work, I help people choose clothes that make them feel good and express who they are. When you know what colours and styles suit you, it can make a big difference. It helps you show the world your true self with confidence.

Understanding your style and how it matches your personality can make getting dressed fun and empowering. Clothes become a way to show who you are and boost your confidence.

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

As you discover your style, remember that you already have everything you need to be your own kind of beautiful. Like the butterfly, your beauty and growth are visible to others, even if you cannot always see it yourself. Embrace your journey, celebrate your uniqueness, and let your true beauty shine.

Together, we can find the wings you might not yet see and help you become the most confident, comfortable, and beautiful version of yourself. You are already wonderful—let’s make sure you know it too.
