Philippa Spark, owner of Philippa French, works directly with teams of crafters in the Valley of 1000 Hills on the outskirts of Durban, South Africa. Each artisan Philippa works with is responsible for supporting their direct and extended families. Many of the crafters are single mothers or grandmothers who have lost their children and are taking care of their grandchildren.
My dream is to uplift as many families as humanly possible in my lifetime, and that the business will continue way beyond my lifetime, and in so doing, my legacy will live on in the families who benefit from Philippa French orders. I guess everyone needs a dream – that is mine.

One of the crafters, a single mother to a baby born in December 2020, lost her mother to Covid – 19 within the first week of January 2021. As such, we are supporting her through orders for her to work on, thereby providing her with an income to support her infant.
At the helm of the establishment is also a young man who is taking care of his mother and grandmother. The sense of community amongst the artisans is enormous, and every order helps to benefit these incredibly worthy individuals, of all ages.
Philippa and her team are very close, all working together to fulfill their mutual dream of opening stores worldwide one day. Each order is a reason to celebrate, bringing Philippa’s dream of uplifting hundreds of families closer to reality for her. Each item is a wearable work of art, using only the best quality Czech Republic glass beads. They take custom orders and ship worldwide.
