Paperbag Pants
The key with paperbag waist pants is balancing the looser fit on bottom with a tighter or shorter top. Not only does that provide a more proportioned look, it helps the waist detail stand out. Have a look at my post about BALANCE for more about this.
Paperbag pants work best on body shapes with a defined waist, such as an hourglass or pear shape. If you feel self-conscious about your waist, rather avoid this style.
Tuck your top in to highlight the waist detail. If you wear a top over the waist, it will just add bulk to your silhouette.
A bodysuit would be an excellent choice. Cropped tops can also work well, as they end just above the mid-section of your body.
When choosing a jacket or cardigan, go for something more slimline that doesn’t add bulk to your outfit.
The extra volume that paperbag pants add to your silhouette can sometimes make you appear shorter than what you are. A pair of heels will add height and elongate your legs. In other words, you will look taller and slimmer 😉
If you’re not comfortable in heels, have a look at some wedges. There are plenty of very comfortable options that will do the trick.
